This help covers the Document Preview. For coverage of actual editing (and the Editor Tutorial), you need:

The Document Preview is a mini-HTML browser. While it can view any HTML document, it is tailored for effective previewing of ProseEdit documents. In particular it includes an index for jumping directly to content of interest. The preview also provides the means for printing and downloading content from the web.

3 Preview Index

Text— cph=196— clh=120—

The Preview Index lists the anchors defined within the document. A matching anchor is created for any chunk with a chunk ID. Anchors are also automatically generated for section and table chunks and separately for any tabbed chunks. All these anchors are separate, so a tabbed section chunk with a chunk ID will have 3 entries.

Text— cph=126— clh=85—

When called from the Editor, an additional anchor of either:
‘--- editing position ---’ or ‘--- previewed table ---’ is included to show where you are currently editing.

Text— cph=101— clh=63—

Although intended for use with ProseEdit documents, the Preview Index scans the HTML directly, so can work with any HTML document which includes anchor tags.

Text— cph=82— clh=63—

Duplicated anchors are indicated. This is relevant as the browser will always jump to the first occurrence.

Text— cph=82— clh=63—

Just like the Document Index, the list can be filtered though the options for matches are more limited.

    Item— cph=87— clh=68— level=1— format=12—

  • Tap on an entry to choose it, then tap 〔Go To〕to jump to its place in the document.

3.2 The Show Menu

Text— cph=101— clh=63—

The Show Menu consists of a number of switches to include different anchors into the index. An anchor is included if it matches any of the switches.

Text— cph=120— clh=82—

The text is shown in yellow when the switch is on, and grey when it is off. The switches themselves are ghosted if they don't apply i.e. the document doesn't contain any anchors which match.
