Help / File Manager See and Do - 20 Jun 2013 15:03

Text— cph=139— clh=82—

The File Manager provides a means to browse your documents and perform file operations like moving and copying. It also holds App-wide settings. Essentially the Editor edits the contents of documents, and the File Manager does everything else.

1 What You Can See

Text— cph=101— clh=63—

The display shows the path down to the current folder split into separate components, and lists the files and folders contained within the current folder.

Text— cph=101— clh=63—

At the bottom of the screen is the File Manager's blue toolbar. This can be swiped sideways to reveal 3 pages of buttons [more (below)].

2.1 Selection

Text— cph=82— clh=63—

Files and folders must be selected before operations (such as move or copy) can be performed upon them.

Text— cph=101— clh=63—

You can select any number of files or folders provided they are in the same folder. Selecting a folder selects all its contents, including any subfolders.

Text— cph=101— clh=63—

Browsing away from the selection folder does not clear the selection. So you can move/copy the selected files straight to the current folder, should you wish.

Text— cph=282— clh=163—

The selection responds differently to taps than the editor's chunk selection. Instead of always selecting a range, file/folders are selected and unselected individually by default - this is known as ‘Single’ mode. The File Manager also offers a ‘Spans’ mode, where taps in the margins are treated in pairs. The first tap starts a span and the next tap defines the other end of the span. If the first tapped file was selected, the rest of the span are also selected and likewise for deselecting. You can toggle between the 2 modes at any time via〔Single / Spans〕on the toolbar.

Text— cph=120— clh=82—

The selection can be cleared by tapping on the current folder (bottom path component) when the selection margins are visible. This also selects all the listed files and folders when there isn't a selection.
